Moving Swiftly on...

been a while since I blogged, I blame Crisis Core.

Been playing that nigh on religiously since I got it. Love FF7 to death, and I literally eat up anything related to it in anyway. The killer is I know the ending is gonna have me weeping like a baby, especially as Crisis Core already managed to make me feel bad for Sephiroth, despite knowing what he does in FF7. It even made me feel sad when he finally found out where he came from and snapped. So yeah, I'm in chapter 10, the last in the game, and I'm already welling up everytime I hear the Crisis Core theme. Still, it's making me wanna play through FF7 again, and Squeenix hafta be working on an FF7 remake, otherwise all this teasing they're doing is kinda senseless. You gotta imagine a remake of FF7 would sell like hot cakes.

Before I got Crisis Core, I was playing through MGS4. Beat that amazing game a few times now, and god I love it to death. But, as with Crisis Core, it's made me want to go back and play through the other MGS games. Currently I'm looking at finishing off the MGAC!D games or Portable Ops.

What else have I been up to...

Oh, a GameStation opened up in town, nigh on next door to where I work, so that's been awesome. Picked up some awesome games cheap, but also wasted a lot of money on whimsical stuff, like Raiden and Sephiroth figs. Also screwed up two amazing chances at getting dates. Went to the opening day thing at said GameStation, and two of the girls there were hitting on me, quite heavily apparently, but I was away with the "ooh, King of Fighters ^_^" fairys and never noticed, and promptly got mocked by work mates who were also there when they found out that not only had I not got numbers, but hadnt even noticed a girl asking me for my number a dozen times and this other girl ignoring a shop full of customers looking for help to talk to me. I'm a ****ing retarded idiot sometimes.

Also, had my shoulder length hair chopped off. A half hour of madness after getting rained on led to it all coming off. So now I've got like, inch long hair. So I styled it like Nathan Drake from Uncharted and quite liked that, so also dyed it black. Apparently Black hair really suits me, as everyones happily pointing it out, so no longer shall I dye my blonde hair brown.

On another note, if you havent played Uncharted, it's as good a reason to have a PS3 as MGS4, heck, probably even better as it isnt so cutscene and story heavy. It also has the single best 3rd person gunplay combat in a game ever.

Metal.... Gear ?

So, MGS4 came out Thursday. I had work Thursday night, but due to circumstance beyond my control, I found myself bed ridden and at home Friday night. By 7am Sunday Morning, Metal Gear Solid 4 was finished. Two short 2-3 hour sessions and an almight 8 hour session blazing through the last of act 3, then act 4 and 5. Been a LONG time since I played a game that much in one go. Been just as long since I spent so much time playing one game too.

But now I wanna go back and play the other Metal Gear games again. MGS1 on the PS1 would be the best place to start, but I'd rather play it on my PS3 now, which rasies the whole question of how would I fight Mantis. Also, my lack of a Dual Shock 3 hinders my MGS on PS3 plan. So Twin Snakes is plausible, but god I hated how easy the MGS2 engine made that game, let alone how god awful the GC pad was for it.

Which brings me onto the MGS games I havent finished. AC!D, AC!D 2, and Portable Ops. I think one of those shall be my next pray, especially since all of them I played on my old PSP and will hafta start again on my new slim PSP. Good excuse to look for the cables to hook a PSP up to my TV too.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

What with Neo Magazine running a feature, and the DVD's coming out here soon, all of which I've got on order, I've been watching Haruhi again these past few days, and it's made me realise how much my life's changed since I last watched the show, and it's kinda fun enjoying it for completely different reasons.

The first time I watched it I was pretty out of shape, had little spare cash for stupid things, was pretty unsocial, had a rather lousy work routine, but was with someone, so watching it was something done with her, heck, aquiring it was always a silly 'race' between the two of us just for giggles.

Now I'm watching it because I want to see it fan subbed again before I watch it dubbed. I'm watching it because I have people I work with who also are getting it when it comes out here. I'm also getting the DVD's because I have the cash to say, yes, for the next 4 months I CAN spend £30 on Special Edition DVD sets. I'm also in pretty much the best shape of my life, and I'm looking into getting a silly job that's something I've always wanted to do. A GameStation is opening in town and I'm applying for the hell of it. I already have a full time job so its not as if I need it, but I've always wanted to work in video game retail, which is part of the reason I have the job I have now, it was meant to put me off working in retail, not to make me enjoy it more. Funnily enough, I've had this silly job 8 years now, and it was meant to be a bit of extra money when I was at college.

The best part is how I still vividly rememeber the show, despite my usual god awful memory, be it short or long term. Also, as I've improved as an artist I'm noticing a lot more detail in the animation, especially the fluidity of it all, and with me listening to a lot more music from various (mostly awful) sources now, I'm really digging Hare Hare Yuaki more than I should, again.

God I love this show. If it wasnt for Bebop it'd probably be my favourite Anime series of all time. Glad they're bringing the novels over here next year, I'll be sure to give them a read, it's just not the same reading a PDF.

Sunny Saturday

It's Saturday.
It's Sunny and warm.
I've just made my first T-Shirt and it looks good.
I'm working on another drawing and so far I'm loving drawing it and it's coming together well.

All in all today's been a great day so far. Granted, I'm at work later, so that'll suck, but that's only because I was sick thursday, and so offered to make up the hours as there's not 1 but 3 games out next week I wanna get.

So yeah, Grand Theft Auto 4 is out in less than 4 days. Where's that come from ? And Iron Man's out next week, as well as the PS3 version of Monster Madness. That's a lotta gaming I'm doing next week. Crazy expensive week ahead.

John Gabriel's Greater Internet Dickwad Theory

Normal Person + Annonymity + Audience = Total Dickwad

Old as hell, but still as true today as it ever was. It's a shame how much abuse the greatest communication tool we have gets.

I dunno what it is, but recently I've been tired all the time. I wake up tired, when I actually wake up that is, and I spend all day in this sorta tired haze. I dunno what it is though. I used to be fine on a regular 6 hours a night sleep schedule, but now I'm getting anywhere between 8 and 12 hours sleep a day. I'm literally sleeping my days away and yet still waking up tired. Maybe I'm ill or something, I just dont seem to be getting the rest I need.

Other than that, I've been thinking about the ex, Anne Celeste Mitchell, and awful lot again recently. It's almost been a year and I still havent figured out why she left me like she did. My best guess boils down to her past leaving her wary of people caring about her, and after growing accustom to me always being there for her, when I wasnt because, as it turned out, I was violently sick, it shook what reliance she'd let herself have of me too much. If that even makes any sense to anyone else. I just cant get my head around it though. We were together 6 years and she left the day after we'd been planing our future together, something she loved talking about because she felt wanted.

I guess I'll never turly know what she's thinking now. I'm just left with a heavy heart and the really horrible pain of missing her with every inch of my being. Weird that, I'm only 24 and yet I'm pretty certain I wont fall in love again.

In less depressing news, I'm sketching a lot. Not helping me get done any proper drawings, and god knows I've got outstanding requests, but I've been kept busy when I've been awake, so I've not had much time to actually sit and draw.

In gaming news, I got God of War : Chains of Olympus on the PSP last friday, and managed to finish that up Monday. Thoroughly enjoyed the game, and would recommend it to most people, it's just that charging my PSP battery so I could install the new firmware, and installing the new firmware, took longer to do than the game took to beat, and without a score or ranking system, there's nothing there to drag me through the higher difficulties. Short but sweet would be the best way of summing it up. I should write a proper review of it sometime soon.

Also managed to finally get a copy of the PS2 Teen Titans game. Yes, I liked Teen Titans. Funny how much stick I get for that, despite being a massive cartoon and anime fan, and a huge DC fan. It was a combination of 3 things I love, and people still seem to be suprised when I say I watched and enjoyed it. Anyways, yes, got the game and it cost me the princely sum of £4 brand new, which was an absoloute bragin, if only for the manual and all the artwork inside it. The game itself so far seems pretty average unless you're a fan, which is probably why it's winning me over. Pounding up on Hive baddies as the Titans is great fun in my eyes.

Alright, I guess that pretty much wraps everything up for now.

My Right Arm is Killing Me

So, I've been playing a lot of Oneechanbara Revolution on the Wii recently. The Wii with its Wii Remote and motion sensing. Playing a game with a ridiculous amount of sword swinging. Sword swinging that on the Wii, uses the Wii Remote.

This has led to a lot of interesting experiences. Sure, subtle motions can get the job done, but in Oneechanbara, you need to be doing "Cool" hits, and to get "Cool" hits, you need to swing with the right amount of speed and timing. Which is absolute murder on the arm.

The you get to factor in that Vertical slashes with the Wii Remote are only one type of Attack. There's also Vertical slashes for a different combo, forward thrusts for specific moves, and mad flailing for special attacks.

All in all, this has led to a noticeable size difference between my right and left biceps, which is kinda scary considering it's only been a week. Granted, it's only noticeable to me, but since when was playing video games supposed to make your muscles bigger ?

It's actually times like this when I'm half glad I'm ambidextrous instead of just my original left handedness, or my enforced right handedness. But thats a story for another time and blog.

Catching Up

So its Sunday, and as I expected, 2 of my 4 days have gone already. The first day was all my fault, Brawl arrived and I sank 10 hours into unlocking stuff, mainly Snake and Sonic, then just playing Brawls for a good few hours with my niece as Snake, who is now above and beyond my favourite character, with Sonic and Link distant seconds. Snake hides in a cardboard box for his taunt for ****s sake, thats just brilliant.

Today I lost to a family get together for Easter. I'm not a great social person, and always just feel kinda awkward in these sorta situations. There's no artists or gamers in my family outside of children, so I dont have much conversation to add, and usually just feel left out. Got to play some 4 player Brawl out of it though, so shouldnt complain.

Aside from that I've finally caught up on scanning and uploading all my sketches to my dA account, so I'm up to date there now. I've got some plans for things to draw too, so hopefully all that will turn out spiffy and get done in prompt fashion. Also got to watch Terry Pratchett's The Colour Of Magic, which was utterly awesome. The only downside of it was how much I wanted to watch it with Anne, my ex, and now I'm thinking about her again. I still dont know why she left, or what happened in the 24 hours between us being incredibly happy and her up and going. Still, I know she'd of loved watching it, so I hope she's gotten to see it somehow, she introduced me to the Discworld books after all.
